I figured since it's a 3 day weekend, there's no excuse for me not to update my blog! So we've been home from vacation for awhile, obviously. We started back to school on Monday--made it through the first week! I started working my new on-campus job. I work the front desk at the Academic Advising Center (9th Street Hall for those of you from EIU!) I really like working there, unfortunately I don't get a lot of hours because it's a work study job. We also had our Bash Week events for Campus House this past week which is always tiring--but we had a blast.
In other, less happy news, I found out the other day I won't be able to student teach in the Spring like we had been planning on. Turns out I missed the student teaching meeting I was supposed to go to LAST fall (even though last fall I wasn't even IN the education program...). There was a little miscommunication between my advisor and I, so now I can't student teach until next Fall (2009). This means a variety of things for us.
1) I have to take 2 random classes in the Spring to keep insurance and still be able to use Health Services on campus
2) I find out my placement probably before Brent knows where he'll be working in the fall...so I'm not sure where we'll end up
3) The good news out of all this, is that while I'm student teaching Brent will have a full-time accounting job so while I won't be able to work at least he will.
As discouraging as all this is (I'll end up in college for 6.5 YEARS), I really feel at peace with all of it. I know God knows what is going on and He's got our lives in his hands and that's comforting. So with lots of prayers, we're just trying to figure out where God wants us in the Fall. It's a little scary but exciting at the same time...at least we get to experience it together, married, which sure beats not being married!!
I went from blonde to brunette...
On the giant slide at a Bash Week event!
As promised, I brought my camera today while babysitting to get some shots of Avery because I won't be seeing her for about 2 weeks due to vacations :( Anyway, she cooperated very well with the camera, as she loved staring at it. Here a.jpg)
